This is a private tour we have scheduled for Springtime 2026 – Tulip Season! We would be happy to customize a tour for your group of six or more. Here’s the custom itinerary that the nine lovely ladies joining us in April 2026 will enjoy.

Pedal gently through the storybook landscapes of the Netherlands — where tulip fields ripple in the breeze, canals mirror centuries-old windmills, and every cobbled town seems to hum with history and charm.

This private, leisurely-paced cycling adventure is designed for relaxation, laughter, and connection, with rest days to visit the famed tulip gardens of Keukenhof and the charms and canals of Amsterdam. Led by your local host Stephanie, you’ll explore her favorite hidden gems in her adopted hometown and the serene rural countryside known as the “Green Heart of Holland.”

DAY 1

Arrive in Amsterdam – Welcome to the Netherlands!

Your Dutch adventure begins! Stephanie will welcome you at Schiphol Airport with a warm smile. From there, enjoy a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Alphen aan den Rijn, a charming canal town in the heart of Holland. If you’re up for a gentle start to the journey, Stephanie will lead a low-key afternoon stroll through the historic town center near her own home, stopping for coffee along the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine) and a visit with some of her favorite shopkeepers.

DAY 2

Alphen a/d Rijn to Leiden: Bike Fitting & Windmill Warm-Up Ride (15 miles)

After breakfast, transfer to Leiden by van or taxi, where your bikes await! Once fitted comfortably, you’ll set off on a picturesque ride back to Alphen through the serene Dutch countryside — where the rhythm of the windmills and the gentle hum of your wheels will ease you into the cycling spirit. Those preferring a shorter route can opt for a relaxed “warm-up” loop starting from Alphen.

DAY 3

Gouda – Cheese, Glass, and Dutch Charm (27 miles)

This morning, cycle through meadows dotted with grazing cows and bright tulip fields toward the storybook city of Gouda. The air fills with music and laughter as you arrive at the famous Cheese Market (10:00–12:30) — a lively scene straight out of the 17th century. Taste warm stroopwafels fresh off the iron, before you step inside the Sint Janskerk, the Netherlands’ longest church, whose stained-glass windows bathe the nave in color.

DAY 4

Rest Day in Bloom – Keukenhof Gardens

Today is a feast for the senses! Board the train to Leiden, then transfer by direct bus to the world-famous Keukenhof Flower Gardens — 80 acres of tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths arranged in breathtaking patterns. Wander the fragrant pathways, admire artful floral displays, and pause for tea beside the lily ponds. Return to Leiden for a leisurely dinner or a short stroll along its tranquil canals before heading back to Alphen by train.

DAY 5

Windmills of the Driemanpolder (25 miles)

Cycle along peaceful dike paths and through whispering reeds to the Driemanpolder, where three stately windmills stand together like sentinels of the past. The route offers perfect moments for photos — or simply to pause and breathe in the stillness of the Dutch polder landscape.

DAY 6

Delft – The Art of Blue and White (25–30 miles)

Pedal south to the elegant city of Delft, famed for its blue-and-white pottery and rich artistic heritage. At the Royal Delft Museum, enjoy a private tour and a delicious lunch, then watch the master painters at work — brush by brush — creating timeless ceramics. Stephanie will lead an afternoon city walk through Delft’s historic center, where quiet canals mirror spire-topped churches and charming bridges.

DAY 7

Visit to Molenviergang and Friendly Cows of Aarlanderveen Polder (20 miles)

Today we’ll stay close to Alphen with a scenic loop ride through the countryside just beyond the city limits. Get a glimpse into the ingenuity of Dutch water management when you gaze upon the only operational 4 windmill corridor in the world. Later we’ll visit Stephanie’s favorite dairy farmer at De Witte Gravin, a charming dairy farm where you will be treated to local treats and cold fresh milk from the dairy tap!

DAY 8

Flower fields & Farewell to the Bikes (20 miles)

Cycle one final time to the flower fields of Lisse before returning your trusty bikes in Leiden. Celebrate your cycling triumph with a cozy farewell dinner in one of Leiden’s canal-side restaurants — perhaps raising a glass to friendship and the open Dutch sky.

DAY 9 & 10

Amsterdam – Art & Architecture Await!

Travel to Amsterdam to visit some of the city’s beloved sites and famed museums. If it’s art you fancy, works by the 16th-century Dutch Masters await. If you are a history buff, the Resistance Museum is worthwhile. Later, glide through the city on a canal boat tour. Savor a few Dutch goodies on Stephanie’s food walk from the literary Spui Square to the charming Jordaan district. Visit a Begijnhof, a hidden courtyard where a secret church and the oldest house in the city can be found.

DAY 11

Tot Ziens, Holland!

Enjoy a final breakfast before your transfer to Schiphol Airport for departure. You’ll carry home not only photos and souvenirs — but memories of friendship, laughter, and the beauty of spring in Holland’s Green Heart.

Arrival in the Netherlands: The closest airport to the start/finish of the tour is Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS). From there, you will be met by our staff for your transfer to Alphen aan den Rijn, where the tour begins.

Bicycles: You’ll have the option to ride either a hybrid touring bike or an electric bike. If you’re considering an e-bike, please keep in mind that they are significantly heavier than standard touring bikes and require confident bike-handling skills. For this reason, we do not recommend e-bikes for novice cyclists. If you’re new to e-bikes, we suggest renting one locally at home before the tour to gain familiarity and practice riding it safely.

Bikes are also equipped with a rear rack and pannier bags.

Bicycle Helmet: We require all guests to wear a properly fitting helmet at all times while riding on the tour.

Bicycle Locks: All bicycles are outfitted with locks. Please use them whenever you plan to leave your bicycle unattended for any length of time. You will be liable for damage or theft of the bicycle if it is stolen during an excursion because it was not locked properly. Bicycle insurance is available for a nominal fee.

Itinerary Program: The above itinerary is subject to change. Alterations are sometimes necessary due to circumstances beyond the operator’s control

Physical Fitness and Bike Handling: To participate in the biking part of the tour, it is important that you are in good physical condition and have the necessary bike handling skills. Group riding experience is encouraged but not a requirement. This tour is rated difficulty level 1. Novice cyclists should be able to complete the daily rides. All guests are expected to keep pace with the group, which travels at 10-12 mph. On this tour, we will occasionally need to share the road with car traffic, and we will have to cross busy intersections. The weather is variable; it may not always be sunny, and the wind may not always be calm. Even under poor weather conditions, you should feel safe and able to cover the day’s distance on your bike. If, for any reason, a guest cannot complete the day’s ride, the guest can return with their bike to the hotel at their own expense.
